The Premium Plan Includes Wood Selection and Engraving
This listing is for the All-Inclusive Premium Plan. The price covers your choice of eligible premium woods, laser engraving, and all the tools and materials used in the workshop.
With the standard plan, choosing anything other than the basic wood or adding engraving costs extra. With the Premium Plan, you can freely compare wood colours and grain patterns and add engraving, all without worrying about add-ons.
The available woods and engraving options depend on what's in stock on the day, so please follow the staff's guidance.

First, Compare Colours and Grain to Choose Your Wood
Using sample chopsticks and information cards as a guide, pick the wood you'd like to work with. Light tones, deep browns, reddish hues: each wood has its own character.
If the chopsticks are for you, you might choose a colour that matches the tableware you use every day. If they're a gift, think about the recipient's taste as you compare.

Next, Shape It Little by Little with a Hand Plane
Once your wood is set in a special holder, you'll use a kanna (Japanese hand plane) to shave it closer to the shape of a chopstick. Staff will show you which direction to push and how much pressure to apply.
With every stroke, thin wood shavings curl away. Compare it with how it looked before and watch your piece of wood gradually slim down.

Once Shaped, Sand the Surface Smooth
Next, use sandpaper to smooth the edges and surface. Feel the texture as you sand, finishing a pair that's comfortable to hold.
Compare the two chopsticks side by side, try holding them, and check the finish together with the staff.

Finally, Engrave a Name or Message and Take Them Home
Your finished chopsticks can be laser-engraved with a name, a favourite word, or a special date. Engraving is included in the Premium Plan price.
Once you've decided what to engrave, talk with the staff about the lettering and placement. If they're a gift, double-check the spelling of the name beforehand to keep things smooth.
Your finished chopsticks are wrapped for you to take home the same day. Afterwards, why not stroll over to Kaminarimon Gate and Nakamise Shopping Street?
