Greet the Sunrise on the Sea in Early-Morning Miyakojima

This is a guided tour of about 90 minutes in which you enjoy SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) or canoeing in the early morning on the waters around Gusukube Tomori in Miyakojima. It's a group tour guided in English and Japanese, and the price includes gear rental and digital photos taken by your guide.

Miyakojima has no rivers, so very little sediment flows into the sea. The result is the famously clear water known as "Miyako Blue." The highlight of this experience is paddling out onto the early-morning sea and watching the sky and the water's surface light up as the sun rises.

Safety at PiPi, a "Maru-Yu" Certified Shop

The tour is run by "Miyakojima ADVENTURE PiPi," operated by NASH Co., Ltd.

PiPi is certified as an "Excellent Safety Marine Leisure Provider" (commonly called "Maru-Yu"), a designation awarded only to operators that meet the safety standards set by the Okinawa Prefectural Public Safety Commission. Only about 3% of operators in Okinawa Prefecture hold Maru-Yu certification (as of August 2025).

From strictly enforcing life jacket use to carrying an AED and providing regular safety training for staff, PiPi has cleared demanding standards for guide training and operations. That's why first-timers and families with children can join with peace of mind.

First, Choose SUP or Canoe

With this tour, you choose either SUP or canoe when booking. Here's how each one works.

■ SUP | For those who want to ride a board and paddle on their own You don't have to stand the whole time—you can also sit or even lie down on the board. Follow your guide's instructions and find the position that suits you.

■ Canoe | For those who want to take in the sea views while seated You sit and use a paddle to glide across the water. Two-person canoes are available, so you can enjoy paddling together and cheering each other on with family or friends.

Whichever you choose, gear rental is included in the price. Stand and face the sunrise, or sit side by side and watch it together—pick the option that fits your travel style.

Time to Cruise the Sea as the Sun Comes Up

Once you've paddled out, keep an eye on the sky as it slowly brightens. Moving along with your guide, you'll watch Miyakojima wake up from out on the water.

On clear mornings, the light of the rising sun spreads across the surface of the sea. Up close, you can enjoy the shifting shapes and colors of the clouds and the reflections on the water—changes that photos alone can't capture.

After sharing the sunrise with family or friends, head off for breakfast or island sightseeing. Even with a morning on the water, you'll still have plenty of time for exploring later in the day.

Finally, Receive the Morning Photos Taken by Your Guide

During the tour, your guide takes photos of your experience—shots of you on your SUP or canoe and moments spent with family or friends.

You'll receive the photo files free of charge on the same day. It's a nice bonus to come away with photos of everyone in your group without having to hold the camera yourself.

Once you're back on shore, go grab breakfast or explore the island. After your early-morning sea adventure, the rest of the day is still yours.
