Turn the Okinawan Sea into Art at a Naha Studio
In this experience, you'll use clear resin to recreate blue ocean water and white waves. The venue is Art & Bar Lagoon in Matsuo, Naha, an art studio with a bar, operated by OKINAWA RESIN Co., Ltd.
The session takes about 90 minutes. Even if it's your first time, an instructor will guide you through the process. Evening sessions are also available, so you can fit it in after a day of sightseeing.
The photo is an example of a finished piece. The experience takes place at the studio in Naha. The shape, size and decoration of your piece vary depending on the plan you choose.

First, Choose Your Shape and the Color of Your Sea
The standard plan uses a 14 cm × 18 cm wooden panel. For an additional fee, you can switch to a surfboard, a shisa (Okinawan guardian lion), a sea turtle, a clock and more.
Once you've chosen a shape, think about the kind of sea you'd like to create. Bright light blue, or deep ocean blue? You'll decide on the colors and the look of the waves together with your instructor.

Next, Create White Waves on the Blue Sea
After painting the color of your sea, you'll use resin to create the waves. The highlight is the step where you apply warm air to form the white wave patterns.
As the resin moves, the shapes of the waves and the delicate foam patterns keep changing. Follow your instructor's guidance, work with your own hands, and watch the patterns spread right before your eyes.

Finally, Check How to Collect Your Piece
Your finished piece will be left at the studio so the resin can harden. You can't take it with you on the day; pick-up is available from the following day onward.
If you can't collect it during your stay, paid shipping within Japan is also available. When choosing your experience date, be sure to check the pick-up times, delivery address and shipping fee.
