Ninja Kabuki Show & Izakaya Dinner in Shinjuku's Kabukicho
This experience combines a ninja kabuki show in Tokyo's Shinjuku Kabukicho district with a hot pot dinner at a Japanese-style izakaya. The show is offered in English and Japanese.
The experience has a rating of 4.6 (based on 5 reviews). The show venue and the izakaya are separate locations, both within a 5-10 minute walk of each other in the Shinjuku Kabukicho area.
Taiko Drumming, Swordplay, and a Fusion of Japanese and Western Dance
The show is divided into two halves.
The first half centers on swordplay performed to the accompaniment of traditional instruments such as taiko drums. The second half features a performance blending classical Japanese dance with contemporary dance. With lighting and video effects, the staging brings together elements of ninja, kabuki, and oiran (courtesan) costumes alongside taiko drumming, all on one stage.
Because the performance can be enjoyed through movement and sound alone, it's designed to appeal to a wide range of ages, even without understanding the language.
Choose from Three Hot Pots: Chicken, Sukiyaki, or Seafood
For dinner, you'll select one of three hot pot options at the time of booking: ① chicken hot pot, ② beef sukiyaki hot pot, or ③ seafood hot pot. Please note that everyone within the same booking must choose the same hot pot.
The dinner venue is the izakaya "Miraizaka Shinjuku Higashiguchi" (2F Newsun Park Building, 3-20-5 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo). Look for the "Miraizaka" sign.
Drinks are not included, so order separately on the day if needed. Additional dishes can also be ordered and paid for on the day.
Getting Around and Managing Your Time
You'll need to walk from the show venue to the izakaya on your own, which takes about 5-10 minutes. The flow is to watch the show first, then move to the restaurant for dinner.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes past your reserved dinner time at the izakaya, your reservation will be automatically cancelled with no refund, so it's wise to leave plenty of time for the walk over.
If the restaurant is busy and no additional orders are placed, your dining time may be limited to one hour.
Participation Requirements and What to Bring
This experience is open to guests aged 7 and up; those under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian. Children aged 0-6 can enter for free, but the izakaya meal is not included for them.
On the day, bring a valid form of ID—such as a passport, driver's license, identification card (My Number Card), or residence card—as age and order details will be checked.
Seating for the show cannot be requested in advance and is arranged by the venue. Outside food and drink, as well as pets other than guide dogs, are not permitted.
